Among the prettiest day-time (and easier) single track rides I know is the Deschutes River trail near Bend Oregon. The ride starts at one of several spots, depending upon the desired distance and ends beyond the spectacular Benham Falls. Start at Meadow Camp (16
miles r.t.), Dillon Falls (12 miles r.t.) or Lava Island Falls (7 miles r.t.). Its a gradual climb, with lots of flat spots and a few low-low gear short climbs. The roaring, cascading, peaceful, meandering, flowing Deschutes River is almost always in sight. Surroundings are forests, fields, distant snow-capped mountains and spectacular lava corridors. Hikers share the trail in places. Its a great day of riding for all levels. Ride beyond Benham Falls and enjoy the network of trails at Sun River. Anybody out there have other favorites near Bend?
